Who can go to Camp Lotsafun?
Children, teens and adults with a developmental, neurological, cognitive, or emotional
disability and/or delay are able to attend Camp Lotsafun. In addition, the following criteria must be
met: Non- aggressive behavior, continent during the day, established mode of communication, and
maintain a regular sleep pattern.
My child has special
dietary needs. Will he/she be provided for at the camp?
We will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions. Menus will be posted before
each camp session and we will work with the parents to provide the most positive experience
we can. If your child requires specific foods they may need to be provided by the parents. Please contact us
with further questions.
My child is
18, but is functioning at a much younger level, can he/she attend one
of the
children’s camps?
Yes, if you feel your child would be more successful interacting with younger
peers, we will consider your request. Each request is reviewed on a case
by case basis.
What is the standard Counselor to Camper ratio?
Our standard ratio is 1:5. However, we always work in teams, our standard
cabin ratio is 2 counselors to 10 campers. In addition, the Camp Director and Assistant Camp
Director oversee all cabins, and the Executive Director who oversees the entire
camp. One-to-one supervision is available for campers who require additional supervision and
guidance for safety. There is an additional fee of $550 for this service.
Who will be administering the medication by child needs to take at camp?
We have a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) who on site at all times during
each camp session. The Camp Nurse is responsible for all medication, first
aid administration and documentation. We have identified 4 camp medication
times: before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, and bedtime (am,
noon, pm, bedtime).
My child
needs medication at a time that is not specified medication time on the application,
what will happen at camp?
The nurse will follow any special instructions and med times specified
by the parents and physician.
My child is able to self-administer his/her medication, will he/she be
able to continue this at camp?
No, all medications are stored in a locked cupboard in the nurse’s
station for the safety of all campers. However, our nurse always encourages
campers to be aware of medications and medication times.
What credentials do your counselors have?
Our counselors have a wide range of experience and education: College students
working on a career in a field that serves children, high school students
who are exploring career fields, and professionals who realize the benefits
and rewards of working at camp!
Can siblings attend camp?
Yes siblings of campers both with and without disabilities can attend camp. Many do and have a great time.
Can I register my child/teen/adult for more than one week?
Yes, you can either register for a scheduled two-week session, or register
for multiple one-week sessions. Please call us at the office to make arrangements.
Also, keep in mind that two-week sessions will include the weekend, but
multiple one-week sessions will not.
